Back in times of Mauretania Tingitana, when Tingis( Tangier, nowadays) was annexed the Roman capital of reign( Rome). According to excavations, the Roman Empire of Volubilis was settled by Carthagians traders in the2nd & 3rd Century B.C. It was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1993 for the amazingly decorated mosaics and the Roman architectural designs as triumphal arch, capitol, basilica and other parts which are about 33 parts (including houses, bakery, olive presses and temples).
After the earthquake of Lisbon in 1755, major parts of Volubilis( Walili) felled and since that it was abandoned by the Romans around 280, it has been unhabituated until the 18th century when reign came about Idriss I.
